3.0 out of 5 stars Great, until it started shutting down at random, March 18, 2011

First of all, the reviews here probably made the difference between me loving and hating this player. To turn it on, you do have to make sure that a) the switch in the back is ON, that b)you've pressed and held the green button until the thing is on and then c)you have to press the green button *again* to start the songs playing. This is actually not a bad design, it just isn't well described in the instructions.

One of the features I love is the "hold" function. I can flick the switch on the back to "hold" and my special needs kiddo then doesn't end up turning it off and crying because she can't figure out how to turn it back on again. Hold prevents any changes to the settings on the front. It is not inaccessible to kids, but it is "non obvious" and not the kind of button she feels a need to play with constantly.

We chucked about 3/4 of the included songs. While it is possible to add an SD card, the card slot is not child-proof, so it won't get a lot of use... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little music player!, December 11, 2010

We love this "boom box" for our kids, who are 4 and 22 months. The songs that are already on there are cute, and there is plenty of room for more songs to be added. The kids can turn it on and off by themselves, and love to turn it on and have dance parties, just the two of them. Plus, it is tough. It has been dropped several times and still keeps going. We have ordered several to give as gifts to toddler and preschool aged kids. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy, October 29, 2011

My grandson was born completely deaf. But at 6 months old, he got cochlear implants, so now he hears. He is behind on speech because he didn't hear for the first time til he was 9 months old. But he loves music. Before he could hear, he still had music in his soul. Now with this MP3 player, he can control what music he listens to. It was easy to load the songs and at 2 years old, he was able to master the buttons pretty fast. I call him mix master because he does his own thing with all his musical toys and makes up rhythms that he rocks to. This will grow with him and I hope it will encourage him to sing as well as appreciate the music. Time will tell:)
